Archie McPhee, which sells everything from bacon-flavored toothpicks to Freud action figures, will move from Ballard to Wallingford next year.
The novelty-item retailer bought 4,300 square feet of space on the northeast corner of North 45th Street and Stone Way North in Wallingford. It hopes to remain open in Ballard until the new location is ready in mid-2009, said spokesman David Wahl.
Archie McPhee is moving because its 10-year lease in Ballard expires Dec. 31. The Wallingford location offers less than half the space Archie McPhee now has in Ballard.
"We have a lot of stuff to cram in there," Wahl said, adding that some items, like a giant papier-mache devil head and an 8-foot gladiator statue, "may or may not make the trip."
