Everybody has them: old family photos so hilariously bad that they deserve to be shared. This month, with the help of local card designer Shannon Martin and Madison Valley boutique Rue de Lyon, you could win the opportunity to share yours with the world.
Bring your embarrassing family photos -- drunk aunt, snoozing grandpa or bevy of hideously robed bridesmaids circa 1962 -- to the Madison Valley boutique's holiday open house, Nov. 15 from 3 to 8 p.m. Martin, who plasters greeting cards, napkins, magnets and note cards with old photos and witty quips, and who recently won the International Greeting Card competition for the best wedding anniversary card, will review your submissions and consider using one as the basis for one of her funny greeting cards.
If you aren't comfortable sharing your private moments but would like to meet Martin, you'll find her at Portage Bay Goods in Fremont Nov. 8. She'll join Seattle jewelry designer Kristin Ford for the store's annual holiday open house. From 6 to 9 p.m., guests will receive free gift wrap and 10 percent off all purchases, and the first 50 attendees will score a gift bag.
