I just received a store update from Envy owner James Longtin with the news that he’s moved his plant store from the Central District to the new Pearl apartments on Capitol Hill next to Anchovies and Olives at 1546 15th Avenue.
"The old store was primarily indoor tropical plants and pots,” Longtin explains, “but the new store is twice as big and it gives us a lot more room to carry a wider inventory, including patio furniture, outdoor garden games and specialty gardening tools.”
Envy was a nice addition to Union Street in the CD and while I’m sad to see that it's moved from there, it’s nice to see more restaurants and retail filling up the south end of Capitol Hill.
I’m curious, is there a corner of your neighborhood that is just begging for retail revitalization?

Post a commentYes, the 35th Ave NE section that runs between Bryant and Wedgwood.
We have a Top Pot Donuts, a Starbucks (finally) and a cute little shop named Fresh. The other commercial residents along the street, however, are not the kind that shopping from the foot traffic (drug store, tanning salon, dry-cleaning, daycare).
I'm always impressed Top Pot gets as much business as it does. Since the area is already attracting people, I think more retail business owners should to look at this area. With all the parents taking their kids to Top Pot, a kids store would go over well. Also, additional women's stores, and maybe sports/bike store also.
Someone really, really needs to help the intersection of 23rd and Union in the CD:
A barren, empty lot housing a temporary art exhibition, across from an always-closed Seattle Police Neighborhood Center, next to a liquor store, across from an empty fast food place that still bears the tragic scars of the homicide that closed it, and an over-priced gas station that used to sell "kickin' chicken" but became far too bland and empty to even do that any more.
Help!
