Light up your Hanukkah

Your tastes may range from simple to elegant to elaborate, but you're sure to find a menorah to illuminate your Hanukkah which starts at sundown Dec. 15. Two shops in Seattle (each with multiple locations) have a wide range to choose from.

Fireworks Gallery has everything from small travel menorahs for $28 to beautiful handcrafted candelabras for $360. You'll find them in stained glass and fused glass ($190 and up), ceramic menorahs in traditional blue and white ($65), and a beautiful sculptural olive branch in oxidized bronze (180).

Some of the most endearing menorahs at Fireworks are made by an artisan couple from Canada, Sue Parke and Don Gidley. The pair hand-cut and hand-paint wood and metal into whimsical and joyful renditions of Noah's Ark filled with animals lined up two-by-two ($290), and the Tree of Life alight with redbirds, crows and hanging fruit ($360).

The Tree of Life Judaica & Books in Roosevelt and Bellevue has nearly 20 types to choose from. The menorahs are made from materials such as ceramic, brass, pewter, oak, and glass. Prices range from $20 to $295.
