Recycled tires go the extra mile as handy totes and baskets

Recycled Tires

Kathy Schultz

France exports more than fine Bordeaux, perfume and haute couture. It also exports old tires. Lavender Heart in Madison Valley carries these unusual multi-purpose containers made from recycled tires in a variety of sizes. They come in basic black and each is unique, depending on the tire type, maker, and wear and tear. The deep containers with sturdy handles are nearly indestructible and hold everything from gifts of wine to poolside towels. Uses are unlimited – fill them with flip flops or slippers for shoe-free homes, towels in the bathroom, knitting needles and yarn, wood by the fireplace, umbrellas, dog toys, kid toys, magazines, etc. Prices range from $19.95 to $89.95.
