Holiday shopping alert: Save 10 percent Dec. 2-7 at Two Owls in Madrona

As if you needed yet another excuse to shop Two Owls’ great selection of fair-trade and organic gear.

From Dec. 2 through 7, this bitty Madrona boutique offers a super-fun sale: 10 percent off any product or box featuring the color red. Even red lettering on a box or a red tassel on a puppet qualifies for the discount. And to top it off, shoppers can enter a free raffle -- the winner will walk away with a deluxe gift basket stuffed with Two Owls merchandise.

I stopped in this week and this is what I'd want in my basket: handmade Moroccan pillows and cloth sit stools from Zid Zid; child-size aprons ranging from $11 to $20; a mobile you won’t find anywhere else (it’s made from cotton); and Two Owls-designed pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and postpartum apparel.

I’m talking about incredibly cute pregnancy wear in bold, earthy colors, no baby-pink saccharine here. Award for versatility goes to their “3N1” item -– it’s a dress, breastfeeding poncho and skirt in one. But not all at once.

So you might keep Two Owls' sale in mind when considering your upcoming shopping. I’m sure those with a creative eye will spot russet hues everywhere.
