Last week, Nintendo released a fresh batch of Pokemon cards: The Majestic Dawn deck.

Pokemon is strategy-based card game first released in 1998, and now on the comeback. There's math and tactical maneuvers, and the Pokemon critters are pretty cute. Loudred is my favorite in my daughter's box of cards. Loudred looks like a freakish blend of an alligator, marshmallows and Bjork. What's not to love?

Due to Pokemon's rising popularity, Blue Highway Games offers a Pokemon League every Saturday morning. From 10 a.m. to noon, novice and experienced Poke-players gather to trade cards and do battle, earning stamps towards prizes and badges.

Meanwhile, Mom and Dad can cafe-crawl through the nearby Tully's, Caffe Ladro, Starbucks and Teacup.

Blue Highway now requires reservations for Saturday morning game time, due to overflowing seats at the meets. Call or visit the store with $2 in cash or credit card, and they'll save a spot for your Pikachu-crazy kid.
