Need something to do this weekend? Several no-cost options:

On Thursday, May 29, incredibly fab kids' author Gail Carson Levine visits the Ballard Library at 6:30 p.m.

Levine wrote the Newbery Medal-winning (and hit-film-inspiring) Ella Enchanted, and her book Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly will get your future MFA student off to a great start. At Thursday's event, she reads from her new book, Ever.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1, the Pike Place Market Street Festival offers a Kids Zone from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., complete with a bouncy house, arts and crafts and fish painting. Eh, fish painting?!? I'll have to check that out. At 11 a.m. on Saturday, the pre-teen all-girl rock star band Starstruck plays on the main stage. Read more at the Festival Web site.

Also on Saturday and Sunday, the Wing Luke Asian Museum opens in the International District. On Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to noon, a lion and dragon will dance and stomp through the crowd -- always a kid-pleaser.
