West Seattle children's shop Georgia Blu to close in September
By Alison Brownrigg

Georgia Blu owner Krista Means has announced that she's closing her West Seattle children's shop in September, leaving a huge fancy-kids'-clothing-store sized hole in the Junction shopping scene.
Means explains that while the economy has caused a slowdown in sales, her decision is based more on the demands of family life, coupled with the fact that her lease is up in September.
Georgia Blu's inventory of high-end children's clothes and some furniture and fixtures will be liquidated slowly over the next two months. I'll post more specific sale info as I uncover it.
Until then, you can call or stop by the shop for more information.

Post a commentThis store was too expensive for most of West Seattle except for the elite..Maybe lowering the prices would have kept the store in business longer....
Her prices were in line for what she carried. The selection was amazing and service was fantastic. She provided a place for those who appreciate quality products and good customer service. She will be missed. If you wanted cheap clothes there are plenty of other stores who provide that.
Thanks Angie. Closing the business had NOTHING to do with the economy and EVERYTHING to do with my family. The outpouring of love and support from the Georgia Blu community since our announcement to close has been heartwarming and totally unexpected. For those of you who think we were too expensive, you unfortunately don't know what you're talking about. Our prices were across the board and many of our customers commented on this and appreciated it. I get so tired of people complaining about "expensive specialty stores." If you don't like specialty stores, then don't shop there. But that doesn't mean there is not room for them in our community. Not every store is for every person. MANY people shopped Georgia Blu regularly - people who wanted quality, unique clothing coupled with a pleasant shopping experience. We existed for them and because of them - thrived. For others, there's always Target. You and the chip on your shoulder really should spend your money there. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

I love your reply to the first persons post...my sentiments exactly! Are you interested in liquidating everything at once?
