Pampering for princesses in training at Lily's

Sophia Lieberman of Ballard gets a new 'do by Kym Wolfstone at Lily's on Queen Anne.

Little girls need their beauty fix, too. A pretty up-do, manicure, and pedicure might be just the thing after a hard day at school or a break from piano lessons, soccer, and dance class. Or, for special occasions, they can schedule an afternoon out with the girls and dish about Disney movies while sipping pink seltzer and having their nails painted.

Lily's, a recently-opened salon on top of Queen Anne, can meet their discerning aesthetics by accommodating them in a way that's perfectly scaled to their size and isn't too hard on mom's pocketbook. It's billed as a "full-service salon specializing in children." In reality, it's designed for kids, but moms can get services there, too.

Owner Erin Quigley had been mulling over the idea of a beauty spot for children for five years, and when a space opened on Queen Anne, she jumped at the chance. Having been in the construction business, Quigley had a crack team whip the place into shape in short order. The result is "...a dreamy girl's bedroom, the kind we all wished for as children," says Quigley. Walls are painted sunny yellow, and furnishings are white and bubblegum pink. Sparkly crystal wall sconces dot the walls and chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

The three stylists' white vinyl chairs are proportionately smaller and princess mirrors hang on the walls. Toddlers can recline on a shampoo bed while their tiny tresses are washed. Girls don feather boas and perch on the buttercup yellow couch for their pedicures or sit on pink ruffled stools for manicures. It's all very feminine and girlish without going Pretty Pony-overboard. Downstairs, in the pink accented birthday room, there is a masculine brown colored chair for shy boys wanting haircuts.

Marinna Quigley-McAlister gets a pedicure by Annie Andrews at Lily's on Queen Anne.

Hair services include cuts with shampoo and conditioner for $24, up-dos for $35 and up, highlights for $45 and up, and baby's first haircut with locket of hair and keepsake photo for $30. The mini-manicure consists of Zoya nail polish (billed at "baby safe"), nail art and a ring for $10. The mini-pedicure is just $15 and includes a foot soak and scrub, massage, polish, and toe ring.

Parties and get-togethers are pricier. If you'd like to get all of your little girlfriends together for an Ultimate Spa gathering it will cost you $275 for five girls, plus $49 for each additional girl. That includes mini-manicures and pedicures, up-dos, self-decorated flip flops, and pink sparkling seltzer water served on silver trays. Birthday events in the special room downstairs are $225 for eight girls and $15 for each additional girl. That includes pre-printed invites, cakes, thank-you notes, pink sparkling seltzer, treat bags, and a DIY craft.

Moms can enjoy a service with their daughters with the Mom & Me Mini Pedis for $55. They can sip pink seltzer, have their own mini-pedicures and receive a photo of the occasion. Moms can also indulge in brow-waxing and haircuts, while their daughters kick back with a pedicure.

It's all good, clean fun while prepping girls for eventually enjoying the finer (and pricier) spa treatments of life. Quigley says that some of the girls who have come in are already saving up their allowances for a return visit.

I want to do this for my neice and her friends, this is awesome.
I absalutely loved getting my nails done by kym with my god sister katie peaquin. I loved it so much that I am going to have my birthday there you guys are the best katherine claeys
Took my 4 1/2 year-old twin gals there for haircuts and they loved it! The stylist were very friendly and made great small talk with the girls. Really good haircuts, too. Prices are $24 per child, (paid $20 per child at Kidz Cuts at U-Village), which for the fun, girly experience, I thought it was worth it. I'm a little frightened my children might think 'manis & pedis' for kids are the norm, but I have to admit, I think it might be fun as a special mom & daughter treat.
I had my daughter's birthday party here last year and she insisted we have it here again! It is the perfect, private setting for girls. And they are so well taken care of- but not "over the top" I highly recommend Lily's to everyone!
