Northwest School of Animal Massage offers wellness workshops
Learn the basics of massage, aromatherapy and telepathic communication for pets

Over the years, I've been shown a few animal-massage moves by pros: simple strokes and kneading along the spine or at the base of the tail that cause my dogs to stretch luxuriously and get a satisfied look in their eyes. It's like magic.
But I only have a few tricks up my sleeve, so I was thrilled to hear about the series of one- to two-day workshops for regular pet lovers like me offered by the Northwest School of Animal Massage (NWSAM) in Fall City -- starting with massage, June 21-22.
Founded in 2001, NWSAM is best known as a place for professionals to earn certificates in animal massage, and to study related pet health and wellness topics. But the new Wellness Workshop series welcomes the rest of us who want more holistic tools in our pet's health toolbox without going to "grad school."
During the FUNdamentals of Animal Massage, participants discover how massage benefits Rex, Whiskers and Mr. Ed, as well as basic massage techniques and safe stretches, June 21-22, Redmond; $325.
Greening Your Pet is a planet-friendly, health-centered primer on reducing your pet's carbon "pawprint," Aug. 23, Vashon Island; $125 (free, for participants in all four workshops).
Issaquah-based animal communicator Polly Klein leads a workshop on telepathic animal communication, Oct. 25-26, Redmond; $325.
Introduction to Aromatherapy for Animals focuses on the basic concepts of aromatherapy and how to use essential oils safely for animals, Nov. 22-23, Redmond; $325.
