At 35 years old, the Ballard Sidewalk Sale, which takes place July 23 to 26 in conjunction with Ballard SeafoodFest, is Seattle's largest and oldest sale of its kind.

Merchants along Northwest Market Street and Ballard Avenue Northwest will spill out onto the sidewalks with some mighty good deals. Most shops will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Velouria (whose sale starts July 24 at 11 a.m. and runs through Monday, July 27) will have a clearance rack outside filled with clothing, cards and accessories priced from $2 to $50. Inside, all regularly priced merchandise, fine art and sale merchandise will be marked down an additional 15 percent.

On Ballard Avenue, outdoor- and active-apparel company Kavu will mark down men's and women's clothing between 20 and 60 percent, and accessories between 30 to 40 percent. Horseshoe will discount all spring and summer merchandise 30 to 50 percent; and Lucca will offer past-season items, including stationery, handbags and other gorgeous goods, at 50 to 80 percent off.

Ballard Home Comforts always has a great spread at the sidewalk sale, and this year will be no exception with half-off handbags, dishes, tea towels, kitchen items and rubber boots. Blackbird and Birgitta will have bins of sale items at 40 to a whopping 80 percent off. Re-soul will throw an unprecedented storewide sale, with 20 percent off everything in stock, including items already on sale.

Over on Market Street, Tableau will offer holiday items, dishware, linens, baby stuff and other chic merchandise at 50 percent off. Annie's Art and Frame will have an array of cards, gifts, posters and framed art marked down 50 percent; Market Street Shoes will have bins filled with shoes for $20; and Enlighten will liquidate its entire inventory to make way for new stock.
