Shop for better-than-usual deals at these post-holiday sales

In 2008, many storeowners used pre-holiday sales as a strategy to entice hesitant shoppers to spend money at their shops. Given the unfortunate timing of our major snowstorms, not even deep discounts brought last-minute customers through the doors. While it's traditional for stores to have big post-holiday inventory reduction sales, this year even sweeter deals abound to make up for those slow, snowy days. Here are just a few that we've heard about:

If you've overindulged in holiday fare and need some time to get back into your skinny jeans, head over to the sales at Asher Anson in Ballard and Lucky Brand Jeans at University Village. Take 25 percent off denim for men and women from Joes Jeans and Genetic Denim at Asher Anson from December 27 through January 10. Lucky's semiannual 50-percent-off sale includes denim and fashion for men, women and kids. It starts on December 26 and runs until January 26.

Fulfill your New Year's resolution to be more fit with cute workout gear from Lucy. Enjoy post-holiday savings from December 26 through January 4, when all previously marked-down merchandise (in store and online) will be an additional 50 percent off.

If you got a card for Hanukkah or Christmas that read "Spend this check on yourself," head over to Andaluz in Columbia City on December 27 and 28 for their Rear End Sale where select clothing, gifts and accessories (including sale items) will be 10 to 30 percent off.

Clementine in West Seattle is having a major post-holiday sale from January 1 through February 28 with savings from 50 to 75 percent storewide. If you can make it there by the end of December, there's still time to take advantage of their Dec the Halls with December Deal: Buy any pair of shoes and receive a coupon for 50 percent off another pair (even spring styles and sale items) between January 1 and the end of February.

Take advantage of these sales to spruce up your pad: Revival Home and Garden is having a floor-model sale starting the day after Christmas. All new, non-vintage furniture and lighting will be 20 percent off through January 13, going to 30 percent off from January 14 through 31. And save up to 30 percent on everything for the bath and up to 60 percent off the original price on clearance merchandise at Restoration Hardware beginning on December 26.

Miller Pollard Interiors at University Village is offering 50 percent off on all Christmas merchandise including décor, ornaments and accessories starting December 26. December 28 through January 31 is their annual sale, which features 25 percent off on all custom-ordered furniture, lamps, rugs, prints, draperies and more. Miller Pollard offers complimentary interior design service and free delivery from Tacoma to Everett and to the Eastside.

Stock up on kids gear for the year to come at Urban Kids Play on Queen Anne. From December 26 through January 4, select shoes (including winter boots), clothing, diaper bags and holiday merchandise will be 20 to 75 percent off.

Clover kids' store in Ballard will be closed from January 1 through 8 for a little refresher, but will reopen on Friday, January 9 with a big sale that runs through the end of the month with discounts getting progressively better as the weeks go by. Expect 25 to 50 percent off all fall and winter clothing, and 50 to 90 percent off select toys, floor models and previous-season clothing. Aside from that, all other inventory is 10 percent off.

Pop Tots in Ravenna is offering 10 percent off their kids' merchandise storewide the day after Christmas, with markdowns of 50 to 75 percent off throughout January.
