New name, same brunch. Different decor, same brunch. New dinner menu, new chef, more wine, full bar, same brunch, same brunch, same brunch.

"I have great memories of this place," said my pal Giselle, as we straddled swiveling barstools in the dim recesses of the Triangle Lounge. "I celebrated here when Clinton won." That was 1992. It didn't seem to her the place had changed all that much.

Gentle Snark
Are Lunchbox Lab's burgers delicious? Yes, every bit of them. Are they unique? You better believe it. Are they heavy eating? Let me put it this way: It's a pure, sweet, juicy miracle that I'm even able to talk to you now. Some 18 hours after my trip to the Lab, I've still got the worst case of food coma known to humankind -- and I didn't even come close to finishing everything in front of me.

What We Crave
Today, we feel lucky. We feel special. We feel like we got out of bed on the right side. Because today, we were one of the early birds at Capitol Hill's Volunteer Park Café, and we made it there before they ran out of their legendary pot pies.

What We Crave
Got the sniffles? A big bowl of homemade soup from Nana's Soup House near University Village may not be your grandmother's supersecret chicken noodle cure-all, but it will certainly warm you up when you're feeling a bit worn down. We love the hearty vegetarian baked-potato soup, thick with cream and chunks of potato, but with none of that pesky broth to get in the way. A few steamy bites of the velvety potage, and colds just seem to melt away -- at least long enough to get through the rest of the day.

What We Crave
When we've had our fill of turkey and are stuffed with stuffing, we slide into Ristorante Machiavelli's dimly lit dining room on Capitol Hill for bang-up basic Italian comfort food done right.

Life Behind Bars
Patrons are treated equally well. Skylark never charges a cover for its Thursday through Saturday live music nights. It's rather like stopping by your best friend's garage for free jams and eating out of his mother's kitchen-every item on the menu is homemade, including an array of sauces that reverberate on the palate.

Life Behind Bars
Fresh, seasonal, organic fare and vodkas infused with as much flavor as flair have taken flight at Blackbird Bistro in West Seattle’s Admiral Junction.
