Canadian cosmetics company Cargo, known mostly for their metal tins filled with dewy lip gloss, is branching out into the gardening world with a new line of lipsticks. PlantLove sheer and glossy lipsticks ($20 each) arrive in a carton made of flower paper that is embedded with wildflower seeds. You simply moisten the box, plant it in a sunny spot and watch the wildflowers grow.

I'm easily swayed by pretty packaging, so I was smitten with the playfully packaged solid perfume sticks from Crazylibellule and the Poppies, a fantastically named line from Sephora co-founder Isabelle Masson-Mandonnaud. Luckily, the goods inside live up to the gorgeous wrapping on the outside (and the fascinating name). The solid perfume sticks come in an array of wildly colored packages and equally distinctive scents.

There's more than natural beauty on Bainbridge Island. Island resident Suzanne Miller opened Ambrosia Beauty, an enticing new beauty spot, on July 25. The well-stocked, bright and airy shop is sure to draw Island residents, saving them a trip to Seattle to buy fancy perfumes and cosmetics. But it's also worth the ferry trip for Seattleites.

Glam girls will flip over Bésame, an alluring line of cosmetics. Translated from Spanish, the name means "kiss me" — and indeed, these cosmetics could encourage amorous passion. The 1940s and 50s vintage-inspired line conjures up images of sexy women in full slips coyly applying layers of lipstick and touches of rouge at their vanity tables, finishing off with a pouf of the powder puff.
