If your mom is anything like mine, she loves pretty-smelling things, like scented candles and aromatherapy diffusers, but never splurges on herself to buy them. While I wish she would pamper herself a little (heaven knows she deserves it), I'm happy to do it for her, so I'm always on the lookout for sweet-smelling luxury items. This year, just in time for Mother's Day, I've found two local purveyors of good scents to choose from.

may be an unfamiliar name in the Northwest, but the London-based
scentologist has had an almost cultlike following across the globe for
nearly a decade. At long last, the maven of pretty fragrances has
secured counter space in both the downtown and Bellevue Square Nordstrom cosmetic departments. The Bellevue Square counter opens later this week, and the downtown counter will open Nov. 5.

Homes are filled with the scents of holidays, most welcome, some not so welcome. Sacred Myrrh, a new home ambiance fragrance by local company Anthousa, is one you'll want in your environment. Anthousa creative director Maria Christofilis was inspired by her Greek ancestry and a holy oil used for centuries in Thessaloniki, Greece.
