Green Lake's Lower Woodland Skatepark opens officially to the public on Saturday, June 7, at 9:30 a.m. This 17,000-square-foot park, designed by Wally Hollyday and built by contractor T.F. Sahli, is a concrete ocean of possibilities. The mini duck burgers at Wallingford's Tilth should come with a warning. Not the standard Washington Board of Health "eating undercooked meat may be bad for you" kind of warning -- which they do provide for a good reason: as ordered, the meat is rare enough to quack at you. No, the warning should let eaters know that once they've tasted one of these little sliders ($13 for two) they'll be ruined for all other burgers.

I've been reading about miniature dairy goats, and honestly my dogs (and I'm guessing most cats) don't really stack up. Roughly the size of a large canine, mini-goats are serious contributors to the home front. Not only do they make good pets, they are sources of milk (and, with some effort, fantastic cheese) and they provide earth-friendly blackberry-bramble control.
