In late January 2000, Pacific Northwest magazine profiled lifelong Georgetown resident Jon Dove, that year's grand-prize winner of the Arboretum Foundation's Pacific Northwest Garden contest. The garden of his towering 1905 home was resplendent with lush foliage, prolific roses and an onion-dome-shaped privet.

Georgetown was barely on my radar then. I knew it was south of downtown and, well, somewhere near the Hat n' Boots. But I didn't realize that people actually lived there, let alone cultivated beautiful gardens in their yards.

It's been 25 years since the great "Synchronicity" -- the last album of new material by the Police -- was released. I was young and impressionable in 1983, and I took to the album's songs of dinosaurs, depression and the Loch Ness Monster like Wilmer Valderrama takes to paid personal appearances. I've been listening to "Synchronicity" every minute since then, taking breaks for meals and sleep, and y'know, I think it may be time for me to get into some new music.

Four years ago, chef Matthew Dillon went to a party in a nearly century-old building in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood, and something about the place got under his skin. Maybe it's the smoky strips of thick-cut bacon or the enormous, juicy chunks of chicken that escape their sandwich confines like a teenager skipping out on curfew. Then again, it could be the gooey jack cheese, heaps of caramelized onions and healthy slather of spicy secret sauce that all melt together to create their own lusty affair. Or perhaps it has something to do with a French roll so huge it redefines the term gluttony.
