Short Trips
One of my first destinations to the central Oregon Coast three years ago was Cape Kiwanda, to me the most scenic stop on the Three Capes Scenic Drive about 15 minutes north of Lincoln City off U.S. Route 101.
I stayed at the Inn at Cape Kiwanda, ate and drank at the Pelican Pub & Brewery on the beach across the street and watched the sun set behind the wave-worn cliffs that jut into the Pacific Ocean.

Last week I wrote about the section of the Oregon Coast from Newport to the Devils Punch Bowl about eight miles north on U.S. Route 101. This week I continue my tour up the coast, starting at Cape Foulweather, still on the central coast, and ending at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, about 25 miles south of Tillamook at the south end of what's called the north coast area. (I'll cover the popular north coast destinations of Cannon Beach and Seaside in later articles.)
