Step into a world of small wonders at the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art, home to one of the world's foremost doll collections, and a good destination for a half-day outing.
The museum's permanent collection includes a culturally diverse collection of more than 1,200 dolls, from antique bisque to modern Barbies, plus dollhouses, toy tea sets and other vintage toys.
Nostalgia is guaranteed as visitors of all ages spot favorite playthings from their childhood, and the dolls and toys from earlier eras provide a look at history through the eyes of doll and toymakers of the past. The museum store offers antique and contemporary dolls, teddy bears and related items for expert or newly-inspired collectors.
A special exhibit of teddy bears, "Something Fuzzy in Your Stocking," opens Saturday and remains on display through Jan. 27.
The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at 1116 108th Ave. N.E. in downtown Bellevue. Admission is $5-$7; phone 425-455-1116; Web site www.halcyon.com/dollart/. Note: Not all information on the Web site - such as admission prices - is up to date.
