Bellevue

A special night for two on the town in Bellevue

July 10, 2008

STEVE RINGMAN / THE SEATTLE TIMES

A skybridge links Lincoln Square, where the Westin Bellevue is located, and Bellevue Square.

Get away without going away. Here are real prices* for a special night for two on the town — with a sleepover.

Your room: The swank Westin Bellevue puts you in the vortex of modern shopping in Seattle's most urban suburb. Swim the lap pool, then cool off on the outdoor deck and watch for millionaires. $169 for a Saturday in mid-July.

Dinner: Just downstairs, sample Bellevue's recently foaled Palomino. Dinner for two: Roasted garlic with cambozola ($10), seafood louie ($18), pistachio-crusted cod ($24), two glasses of Oregon pinot gris ($20): $72. Then catch a movie next door at Lincoln Square Cinemas, where the rocking leather seats and wide rows earn it a nod as one of Puget Sound's best multiplexes.

Breakfast: You've seen "New Bellevue." So drive a few blocks to sample old Bellevue at Chace's Pancake Corral, marking 50 years in business this year. Strawberry pancakes ($5.95), pigs in a blanket ($6.95), side of hash browns ($2.95) and coffee for two ($1.80 each): $19.45 for the whole pigout.

Before checkout: Shopping! Walk over the skybridge to Crate and Barrel at Bellevue Square and replace all the wine glasses you've broken in the past year.

The damage: $260.45 + taxes, tips and whatever you spend at the mall.

*Prices may vary by date of stay and date booked. These are current prices found on the Web, by phone or in a recent visit.
